Draper Corporation loom catalogs, 1932-1949 [manuscript]

Seven loom catalogs, 1932-1949, and a volume of labelled photographs of sections of looms, from the Draper Corporation for the Textile School at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (now North Carolina State University), Raleigh, N.C. The catalogs each contain a copy of a loom order, followed by a detailed list of parts and labelled photographs of portions of the looms. The orders are dated 1937 January 15-1949 October 31.

The Draper Corporation, based in Hopedale, Massachusetts, was incorporated in 1916, but predecessor companies had been manufacturing loom parts and other textile items, including temples and spindles, in Hopedale since the early 1800s. In the 1960s, the Draper Corporation was the largest textile machine manufacturer in the United States. In 1967, the Draper Corporation was sold to Rockwell International. The College of Textiles at North Carolina State University began classes in the fall of 1899, primarily due to Daniel Tompkins's interest in having a textile program at what was then the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. By 1901 construction began on Tompkins Hall, the first textile building at NC State.
